Stuff not to do

Summarized for Today's Attention Spans

Don't be a dick. This is a community database. We get tens of thousands of users a day from all over the world. People from Azerbaijan to Zambia come to kpopping to learn about kpop through our platform. Our team is committed to making sure kpopping radiates inclusivity, a space where every kpop fan finds a welcoming space for them.

There may be times when you disagree with a moderator action or lack thereof. Your feedback and criticism is welcome and encouraged, so long as it is constructive, politely presented, and offered through appropriate channels like the mod messages or in our discord feedback channel. If you post complaints about moderation on kpopping in an inappropriate space your posts will be deleted. If your words cross the line into hostility or outright attacks on staff, you will be banned.

Backseat moderation is when members take it upon themselves to act as if they are in charge of moderation, such as by trying to enforce rules themselves, or by publicly insisting on what kind of moderation needs to happen or insisting how a page should look. We're thrilled that you are invested in kpopping to such an extent you want to play hall monitor and police our members. Use that enthusiasm to edit one of the thousands of pages that need help instead.

If someone else might own the copyright to it, don't upload it. Furthermore, please refrain from uploading gore, engaging in "hate speech" (i.e., demeaning race, gender, age, religious or sexual orientation, etc.), or sharing materials that are threatening, harassing, defamatory, or that encourage violence or crime. It is strictly prohibited to upload illegal content, including child pornography or nonconsensual ("revenge") porn. Additionally, avoid linking to adult content or to file-sharing, gambling, torrent, or warez websites. Impersonation of others, including but not limited to Korean idols, is also strictly prohibited.

Moreover, please refrain from using kpopping.com as a host for image libraries that you link to from elsewhere, or for content intended for your own website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that transforms us into a content delivery network. If any of these actions are taken, and upon our assessment of the situation, or if you engage in any illegal activities, we reserve the right to take appropriate measures. In addition to any other legal rights we may have, these measures can include banning you from the platform, terminating your account, deleting all your images, pursuing legal action if necessary, and restricting your access to kpopping.com.

We also strongly encourage users to understand the consequences of violating of our guidelines. Please note that any illegal content will be promptly reported to the relevant authorities, as we are committed to complying with applicable laws in the countries we operate in. We rely on the active participation of our community to maintain a safe and respectful environment. If you come across any violations or inappropriate content, please use the "report" button which will alert our staff to the problem.
We built kpopping.com as a community database. This means the quality of our database is dependent on our users to shape and build our platform.

You should understand that editing a database is a team sport. Other users will overwrite your edits. That beautiful profile picture you took hours finding and cropping will be replaced-- maybe within days. This is how a collaborative database is intended to work. It's important that you work well with others and are here to help improve our database and provide constructive feedback aimed at improving the project and do so in line with the project's guidelines and wider mission. Editors whose personal agendas and actions appear to conflict with kpopping's mission risk having their editing privileges removed.

The expression "here to build a database" is our rule of thumb used to distinguish between constructive and non-constructive users.

Here's how we break that down:

Genuine Interest
Displaying a sincere interest in elevating the content of our database.

Adherence to Editing Standards
Conforming to the established policies when posting

Self-Correction and Embracing Lessons
When errors occur, there is an evident effort to learn from them. The user seems dedicated to editing earnestly, enhancing their editorial skills, with good-faith and increasing the quality of their contributions.

Constructive Feedback
When you have an issue with kpopping, come on our discord or send a message to the moderation team detailing the issue. Good users report bugs they find with helpful screenshots
