Before adding images to the database, we recommend that everyone familiarizes themselves with our guidelines for each type of image: group images, artist images, and their appropriate sizes listed at the top of the edit pages.
Adding images can be intimidating at first but the most important details are: selecting good quality images & editing images without destroying them.
1) Avoid extra small images / low quality
Find images that are at least as big as the minimum resolution required. (remember you'll be removing unnecessary white space)
Our policy will always be to keep the best looking profile photos available, not always the most recent. This means in some cases we will not accept a newer image of the artist if it is a visual downgrade
2) Understanding your editing software
You can use whichever image software (e.g. Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET) or online tool you prefer. The most important thing is to learn how to use it. There are some pretty amazing online tutorials that can teach you how to crop transparent .pngs
There should be no logos/text/watermarks over a persons image
Crop images so there isn't any empty white space at the sides or above or below the image
3) Keep it simple
There is no need to add your own color tones, special effects.
