On August 9, the concert organizers of INCHEON K-Pop Concert 2018 (INK) announced a couple changes to the performing artists lineup. They stated soloist HyunA and PENTAGON members E'Dawn & YanAn would not be attending while PRISTIN V would be performing. The official statement goes:
"Hello, this is 2018 INK concert.
This is to inform you some of the previously announced performing artists of the INK concert will be changed as follows.:
HyunA - absent
PENTAGON - E'Dawn and YanAn's absence
PRISTIN - sub-unit PRISTIN V will participate
※ Reason: Due to the internal affairs of their agencies
We apologize for the concern we have caused for the many fans who have been waiting for these artists and we appreciate your understanding.
Thank you."
This comes just shortly after E'Dawn's participation in all the upcoming Japanese schedules were cancelled and and fans were notified he will not be attending the UNIBIRTHDAY fanclub inauguration event for PENTAGON fans.
The rapper and dancer has come in hot water among the fandom and Korean netizens after it was announced he has been dating HyunA for the past 2 years. Fans asked for refunds and his departure from the group in droves on the official fanclub and SNS.
But his fans and supporters have not remained silent either.
For instance, Chinese bandmate YanAn took to his Weibo account in what can only be described as open support for E'Dawn staying put. And several among the UNIVERSE fandom took to SNS to voice their own support for one of PENTAGON's most popular and prolific songwriting members.
"#이던_창단식_나와줘" (E'Dawn, come to the inauguration ceremony) trended on SNS and posts with that and "1=10 10 =1" (Pentagon will always be 10) were posted by many fans who were showing not all in the fandom were turning against their beloved rapper. International and Korean UNIVERSEs alike posted in the several hundreds in a united show of support for E'Dawn.
Some captioned these posts Pentagon will never be nine members or less, others demanded reinstatement of E'Dawn's cancelled schedules and a response from Cube Entertainment, and even some blamed the company for its poor handling of this entire situation.
However, all shared a single message that the continual cancellation of E'Dawn's participation in schedules or his departure from PENTAGON would not be accepted.

It's good to know that there are still sane K-Universes who are still supportive over E'Dawn. It gives me hope that Cube won't kick him out of the group. E'Dawn contributes so much to Pentagon's sound and image, he can't just be kicked out.

True. He has such a distinct voice and style that their sound will be missing an important piece if he leaves. Not to mention that he writes songs for them too, I think.

He's one of the members that really stands out and makes Pentagon a unique and different group I feel like it. Pentagon would not be the same without his quirky and weirdo self 😞
