Kim Changhwan, a composer and CEO of Media Line Entertainment, has been indicted without detention on charges of abuse and supporting abuse of the members of the group TheEastLight.
The prosecution indicted CEO and chairman Kim Changhwan without detention on charges of abuse and supporting abuse under the Child Welfare & Protection Act. Producer Moon Youngil, who is known for directly assaulting Lee Seokcheol and Lee Seunghyun, was arrested and indicted on charges of habitual violence.
It was in October last year that the former TheEastLight members Lee Seokchul and Lee Seunghyun were first attacked. At that time, Lee claimed that he was repeatedly attacked by producer Moon Youngil and that chairman Kim Changhwan helped him.
But Kim denied it. At a press conference, the Dong-A Ilbo also raised new suspicions with the testimony of Lee Eunsung and Jeong Sakang.
Amid sharp divisions between the two sides, the public attention is focusing on what judgment the court will make.
TheEastLight is a six-member boy band group that debuted in 2016. All of the members were teenagers. It was dismantled due to allegations of violence and verbal abuse.
