KBS Has Been Booked by the Police for Tampering with the Music Show Scores on May 13th

Suspected of manipulating the "Music Bank" score, KBS production crew are accused of causing damage to singer Lim Youngwoong and have been booked by the police.

The Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station recently booked the case after receiving a complaint filed by the National Newspaper that KBS deliberately lowered Lim Youngwoong's broadcast score to interfere with his work by manipulating the singer's ranking.

Earlier, the police conducted an internal investigation with a KBS official as a reference. KBS reportedly submitted data related to the criteria for scoring "Music Bank" broadcasting scores to the police.

Lim Youngwoong appeared on KBS "Music Bank" on May 13th alongside LE SSERAFIM, where both were nominated for first place. Lim Youngwoong placed first in digital sales points and album sales points, but received 0 broadcast points and ended up finishing second with 7,035 total points, still behind LE SSERAFIM, who scored 7,881 points in total.

The general public pointed out how KBS was abusing its power and demanded for them to disclose its music show program score criteria and counting system after it was discovered that Lim Youngwoong's song received radio play.

But somehow KBS has garnered more controversy in the process of explaining itself. KBS claimed that Lim Youngwoong's song was not broadcast on neither KBS TV, radio, nor digital content, but changed its position when it was revealed that "If We Ever Meet Again" was broadcast on the radio during the counting period.

Individual A, who accused KBS of obstruction of business to the police, had this to say: "It is a disastrous fact that KBS, a public broadcaster that should aim for strict neutrality, is embroiled in such allegations. We expect the truth will come to light through a thorough police investigation."
