GFRIEND Wins Trademark For Their Group Name! + What's Next For GFRIEND Now That They Can Promote Under Their Group Name?

BUDDIES! Have you seen the latest news? Our GFRIEND won trademark for their group name. We can now get to see them promote under that name.

GFRIEND, k-pop strong vocalists and queens of synchronization even when they are blindfolded or dancing to the choreography in 2x speed. Who among you doesn't know our third generation popular group, GFRIEND?

Last May of 2021, despite the success of their last comeback song "MAGO," GFRIEND officially disbanded, 6 years after debut in 2015 in the k-pop industry. The members of the group, Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji posted individual handwritten letters and their label issued a statement thanking their fandom, BUDDY for the support and love they have given GFRIEND.

When can we ever forget their title track "MAGO," a comeback song that somehow became an unexpected disbandment song? Never.

Today, July 24, 2022 is a very important day for GFRIEND and BUDDIES as the Korean Intellectual Property Rights rejected Source Music's first appeal to trademark GFRIEND. The reason for the rejection is that it would not be possible to register the trademark as the general public recognizes the name being related to the six-member girl group GFRIEND.

This means that the members can now promote under their group name GFRIEND even without the consent of Source Music

So, what's next for GFRIEND? Now that the 3 members of the group are promoting as VIVIZ and other members signing with different agencies, would a reunion be possible?

In an episode of "SCAN VIVIZ" last March, SinB revealed that even her who is a part of the group did not know that "MAGO" would be their last promotion together as a group.

SinB stated that VIVIZ had decided not to have a leader because they still consider their fellow GFRIEND member SOWON as their leader. SinB stated, “So we decided amongst ourselves, ‘We don’t need more than one leader: Sowon is enough. So let’s not pick a leader.’ And we didn’t choose a new leader. We left the spot of leader open for her." So sweet!

She also stated that she thinks they will only be apart for a short time and once each member honed skills of their own, they can reunite afterwards.

SinB also shared that she believes GFRIEND will be back again to release an album or do something a group again one day.

Buddies, now that they can finally promote under their name? Do you think a reunion album would be coming?
