BLACKPINK, BTS, and SEVENTEEN Are The Only Acts In Hanteo History to Sell 1 Million Copies In The First Day

K-pop's flagship girl group BLACKPINK became a million seller on the day of the release of its second full-length album "BORN PINK."

According to the Hanteo Chart real-time chart on the 16th, "Born Pink," which was released at 1 p.m. on the same day, exceeded 1 million cumulative sales at 8:14 p.m. on the same day, about 7 hours later. As of 8:30 p.m. that day, 592,000 copies of the "Born Pink" box set version, 387,000 copies of the digipack version, and 29,000 copies of the kit version were sold, exceeding a total of 1 million copies.

BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to sell more than 1 million copies on the first day of the album's release. Popular boy groups such as BTS and Seventeen have sold more than 1 million copies on the same day. The pre-orders for "Born Pink" exceeded 2 million copies, so BLACKPINK is expected to record a "double million seller" for the first time for a K-pop girl group with its album "Born Pink."

The cumulative sales of BLACKPINK's first album "The Album," which had more than 1 million pre-orders, are known to be 1.25 million copies, and with the release of the second album, the cumulative sales are also expected to increase. BLACKPINK became the first million-seller of a K-pop girl group with "The Album".

So far, the most K-pop girl group's record sales are 1.64 million albums recorded by aespa with its second mini-album "Girls" released in July. The album is still selling steadily. However, BLACKPINK is expected to break the record soon with "Born Pink."

In particular, BLACKPINK is likely to debut as No. 1 on the Billboard main album chart "Billboard 200" with "Born Pink."

If it actually topped the list, it would be the first K-pop female singer album on the chart. It is the fourth overall K-pop after BTS, SuperM, and Stray Kids. YG Entertainment, the agency, will also set a record of ranking first after HYBE (BTS), SM Entertainment (SuperM), and JYP Entertainment (Stray Kids). In other words, all of Korea's K-pop Big 4 will have the No. 1 group of 'Billboard 200'.

At the same time, BLACKPINK is also strong on the music charts. The title song "Shut Down" of "Born Pink" is ranked fifth on Melon, the largest music platform in Korea, as of 8 p.m. on the same day.

In addition, the "Shutdown" music video, which is said to have invested the highest production cost ever in YG, is also recording explosive views. It exceeded 23 million views as of 8 p.m. that day, seven hours after its release, and it is expected to increase as the views have been frozen over the day.
