Jisoo Breaks Another Record as a Kpop Female Soloist

On April 1st, Korean media outlets reported that BLACKPINK's Jisoo had set a new record for a Kpop female solo artist with the number of sales her album reached on the first day of its release.

According to Hanteo Chart on the 1st, as soon as Jisoo's first solo album 'ME' was released at 1 PM on March 31st, it recorded a total of 875,149 copies sold on that day. This is the highest sales volume ever for a female solo album in Korea. In other words, Jisoo is the only female solo singer in Korea who has reached that sales figure in just a day.

Previously, the highest initial 'chodong' sales figure for a Kpop female solo artist was Lisa's 'LALISA,' while Rosé's 'R' followed. This means BLACKPINK members occupied all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in this category.

Jisoo's sales performance was predicted early. Her first solo album 'ME' surpassed 950,000 pre-orders in two weeks (as of March 20th) and 1.31 million in three weeks, making a new record. At this rate, she was bound to be the first million-seller Kpop female soloist.

Besides the album, the title track "Flower" has also dominated the iTunes Top Song Chart in 60 countries, including the United States. In the major domestic music charts, it is settling at the top of the chart with a rapid rise trend. Good results are expected.

Meanwhile, the music video for 'Flower' is also gaining explosive popularity. As soon as it was released, the music video went straight to the #1 worldwide trending video on YouTube, 'Most Viewed Video in 24 Hours'.
