NewJeans Releases "GODS" Worldwide as the Theme Song of the League of Legends World Cup

The theme song of "2023 League of Legends (hereinafter LoL) World Championship" sung by NewJeans has been released.

Riot Games released the music and music video of "GODS" through LoL's official YouTube channel and major domestic and international music sites at 2 p.m. on the 4th (Korea Standard Time). "GODS" is an impressive song with a grand sound that contains the unique sensibility of the LoL World Championship and powerful vocals of NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein). You can feel the genre, sound and vocal style different from the songs that NewJeans has sung so far. The song was completed by Riot Games principal composer Sebastian Najand and Alex Seaver, who participated in a number of "LoL World Championship" theme songs such as "Legends Never Die."

The LoL World Championship is the most prestigious e-sports competition and will be held in Korea for the first time in five years. NewJeans is the first K-pop group to sing the theme song of the competition, proving its heightened global status and influence.

World-class artists such as Imagine Dragons and Lil Nas X have participated in the theme song of the "LoL World Championship." NewJeans, who debuted a year ago, has been named in the 10th theme song line-up of the "LoL World Championship," and is on par with such prominent artists.

Meanwhile, the music video for "GODS" depicts the challenge of "Deft" Kim Hyuk-kyu, who won the "LoL World Championship" as a member of DRX. From the high school classroom where "Deft" and "Faker" Lee Sang-hyuk (T1 member) spent their school days together to the dramatic victory scene in last year's "LoL World Championship" final, "Deft" and his teammates' efforts and glory in winning.
