Bang Chan is a Korean-Australian singer-songwriter, rapper, producer, and composer under JYP Entertainment. He is the leader of the boy group Stray Kids and part of the hip-hop unit 3RACHA.
In 2010, at 13 years old, he passed an audition for JYP Entertainment in Australia and moved to South Korea to begin his training, officially joining JYPE on April 11, 2011. He trained for seven years, adopting the stage name “Chris” during this time while seeing his trainee friends debut ahead of him.
In late 2016, Bang Chan formed a hip-hop group called 3RACHA with fellow trainees Han Jisung (“J.One”) and Seo Changbin (“SPEARB”), using the stage name “CB97”. They released self-composed mixtapes and extended plays on SoundCloud throughout 2017.
On October 11, 2017, JYPE officially revealed his picture and name for participating in the upcoming survival show Stray Kids. On the show's final episode on December 19, 2017, it was confirmed that Bang Chan would debut as the leader of the boy group Stray Kids.
Bang Chan debuted as the leader of Stray Kids on March 25, 2018, with the mini album "I am NOT".
On May 30, 2020, he released a song 'i hate to admit' which was self-composed by him as part of the SKZ-RECORD series. On February 3, 2023, he was promoted as a regular member of KOMCA. This is the Korean Music Copyright Association, which makes him eligible to be able to vote and become part of the board.
