Wu Yi Fan, also known as Kris Wu, is a Canadian-Chinese former rapper and convicted rapist. He is currently serving his 13-year prison sentence in China.
Kris Wu rose to fame in 2012 when he debuted as a member of the boy group EXO under SM Entertainment. In May 2014, he left the group after filing a lawsuit to terminate his exclusive contract with the agency. Although he lost in his legal battle with SM Entertainment, he was able to settle his contracts.
Shortly after leaving EXO, Kris Wu started to promote in China as an actor and rapper, where his career reached new heights. He went on to star in multiple top-grossing local films, collaborate with international artists like Travis Scott, and even appear on international films such as "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" and "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets".
Kris Wu's flourishing career came crashing down after multiple women came forward with sexual assault accusations against him. In August 2021, he was formally arrested on multiple charges. By November 2022, the Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing sentenced him to 13 years in prison. He is set to be deported in Canada by the time he finishes his sentence.
