Singer BoA will file a large-scale complaint against a series of malicious comments that have recently poured against her.
SM Entertainment, the agency, said on the 11th, "As false information, malicious personal attacks, insults, and slander continue to occur around various social network services (SNS), video sharing platforms, and online communities, we are cooperating with law firm Sejong and other external legal advisory agencies to file large-scale complaints at home and abroad."
"The company has already collected sufficient data on a number of posts and is investigating and suing certain cases such as cyber lecturers (some YouTubers who spread false information). We plan to hold them legally responsible through continuous collection of information," they said.
They also said, "The above (slandering) behavior has reached such a serious level that it is difficult for one person to handle. Because of this, the artist (BoA) is suffering a lot of mental pain and is having a very hard time."
They added, "We plan to ensure that the relevant actors are legally punished without leniency or agreement. Please be aware that any act of posting malicious posts can be subject to punishment even now and at this moment."
BoA must have been suffering, even after debuting so long ago, SNS is just a whole other monster.
BoA appeared in tvN's drama "Marry My Husband" earlier this year and was active as a singer and actress, releasing a new song "Emptiness" last month.
However, she received insults and slanderous remarks even during her promotional period. In response, BoA posted a message on her personal channel suggesting her retirement, saying, "My contract is open until 2025, December 31."
Her fans critized SM Entertainment for not doing anything, saying that the "SM family" didn't extent to their own artists as they weren't protecting them.
BoA spent 26 years at SM, single-handedly saved it from bankruptcy as a teen, and yet all SM does after she’s been relentlessly harassed to the point of announcing retirement is post another vague statement abt taking legal action, with nothing to show for it. u dont deserve her. https://t.co/embZnxTWD9

SM once again issues a vague statement claiming that they will pursue legal action in defense of BoA, who they recognize is suffering great mental anguish.

As usual: no targets named, no specifics.
This statement means nothing until we've seen real progress & action. https://t.co/fvT0P65teX
