Lucas Apologizes to NCT Over Private Life Controversy

Lucas, a former member of the group NCT, expressed his thoughts over the controversy about his private life.



Lucas disclosed his recent situation in a video clip titled "Documentary Part 1 Freeze" on his YouTube channel on Sunday. "I'm always at home. I watch TV, eat, and go to work sometimes, but there's nothing special about it," Lucas said. "In the past, I was very personable. The world was too small. I acted as if I knew everything. Now I listen to others and don't talk much about myself. The reason my personality has changed is because of that incident."

"(At the time of the controversy) I was in the room for six months. I didn't want to do anything," he said. "I kept losing my hair because I thought too much. I didn't eat properly because I had no appetite. I also had bad thoughts. I felt so sorry and wanted to die. Honestly, isn't it all because of me? It would have been different if I hadn't done this," he said. "It was not normal at the time. I was cheered on by people everywhere, but when I am in a room alone, no one calls me. I was so lonely. I wanted to call my parents, but I didn't know what to say. The world had changed completely. I didn't know how to relieve my frustration."

Lucas especially said, "The members are a little disappointed in me. I'm so sorry. I have a lot of memories with the members in the past, but it always reminds me of them all of a sudden. I want to be together. In the past, we used to work out and ride kickboards together. ·····" I shouldn't have done that for any reason. Now I really have changed my mind, and I realized a lot of my bad things as I learned."

On this day, Lucas met with Lee Sung-soo, SM's chief A&R officer. "I get a lot of messages including comments. (Lucas) is asking, 'What are you going to do?' and 'What's your plan?' but it's hard to answer," Lee Sung-soo said. "It's right that we should be sorry to the fans or the public. Also, I can't do that much, and as much as I'm sorry, I have to work harder." Lucas said, "I've been having a hard time for two years and I've been thinking about many things, but I don't want to continue living like this. Now I want to work hard," but he also said, "I'm worried because I haven't been active for a long time. No matter how much the fans say, they are my driving force. I'm worried because I haven't seen them for a long time."

Lucas was embroiled in a controversy over his personal life in August 2021. Ex-girlfriend A claimed that Lucas had cheated on her and gaslighted her. B, a Chinese woman, also revealed that Lucas met her and a Korean fan at the same time, asking for expensive gifts, or gossiping about the members. Lucas left NCT at the time, saying, "I looked back on my past behavior and sincerely reflected on it."
