Korean Netizens Criticize "Boys Planet" Chinese Trainees for Behavior Toward Na Kamden

According to Korean media outlets, on the third episode of the Mnet survival show "Boys Planet," the trainees were tasked to gather in small groups for a "K (Korean) vs. G (Global) Group Battle Mission" when a controversy took place.

The said controversy arose from the G' Back Door' team. The team consists of 7 members: Na Kamden, Ricky, Brian, Chen Jian Yu, Feng Jun Lan, Krystian, and Zhang Shuaibo.

In the episode, Na Kamden, a Korean-American, was selected as the leader. Ricky, a Chinese trainee, recommended, "It would be nice if Na Kamden could be the leader." Na Kamden asked the other team members, "Can I do it?" To this, the team members replied, "Good."

However, after practice began, cracks appeared in the teamwork. Na Kamden tried to lead the distribution of parts by expressing opinions in English in consideration of other participants who were not good at Korean, but it appeared that the Chinese team members cut off his words and ignored him, continuing the conversation in Chinese among themselves. Krystian and Chen Jian Yu were pointed by viewers as the center of it.

Later, in an interview with the production team, Na Kamden said, "I wanted them to communicate a little more with me, but they didn't answer well. Anyway, we are a team, so it was very frustrating." He then shed tears, saying, "It was the first time this happened, and it was so difficult because it was awkward."

The scene instantly became a hot topic in South Korean forums, earning comments such as:

  • It's so amazing that they're not even conscious with how they would appear on the camera.
  • Kamden's one of my picks, so I'm really sad for this.
  • This is what you get for getting Chinese trainees.
  • All of them have problematic personalities ㅠㅠ Why are they like this..
  • I hope you guys don't set yourself up to become idols when you come to Korea. Do it in your country.
  • I really don't understand foreigners who want to become K-pop idols but refuse to show respect.
  • They should at least be aware of what's going on, right? Why are they so careless? If I were there, I would be so careful and scared of being evil edited.
  • I was swearing the entire scene. I feel so bad for Kamden.
  • If you can't even speak basic Korean, why are you coming here to become a Korean idol??
  • Criticize their behavior, but please, don't be racists!
  • Do they not want to debut?
  • I was going to watch this without voting, but I got angry when I saw this scene, so I opened the app to vote.
  • It must be very difficult to become a leader of a kpop group.
  • Let's debut, Kamden!
