LOONA’s Yves to Debut in May, Reflects on New Chapter as Soloist

A former member of girl group LOONA, Yves, will make her grand debut as a solo singer next month. She has been an all-rounder since her debut as a LOONA member in 2017 and signed an exclusive contract with PAIX PER MIL last March.

LOONA, which consisted of 12 members, was divided into ARTMS, consisting of Heejin, Haseul, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry. While Loossemble, a group consisting of Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi, Go Won, and Hyeju. Members Chuu and Yves took on the challenge by declaring themselves as solo artists.

Yves expressed her ambition to expand her musical spectrum as an artist beyond being an idol. She is currently concentrating on recording and is preparing to appear in front of her fans with a completely changed appearance. The idol also noted that her musical color and concept are completely different from those during her group activities, plans to prove her capabilities as a solo singer through her new album.

Yves on her new start: “I am preparing for my solo debut in May. I aimed to release it before the summer, but some good songs have come out and the work is progressing well, so I think I will be able to meet my fans sooner. I am currently recording diligently and am repeating revision after revision. I’m trying to challenge myself with new things, listening to the CEO’s feedback, and trying to sing in different ways, but I’m learning a lot.”

Before the decision to pursue solo: "When I was active in the group, I was the leader, so my biggest thought was that the group should do well. I also had great affection for the members and the team. During the hiatus, I thought a lot and worked hard with the members. I had a lot of conversations with myself, and now I felt like I wanted to tell honest stories through music, so my members supported me and I gained more strength to pursue it as a solo artist.”

In choosing a company: "I've been to many company meetings, but the one-year gap period is not short. The most common thought at that time was 'What is my identity?' I thought, ‘Let’s find it.’ Even if it was an unreleased song, I decided to write and compose it myself, and it helped me discover my own unique style. I thought PAIX PER MIL was the right company to expand my musical spectrum, and they had talented producers, so I trusted them and chose them.”

Of support from her LOONA members: "All the members tell me a lot that they are looking forward to it. I am the type of person who worries a lot, but they support me by saying things like, 'You will do great,' and they give me strength because they know me better than I do. The most It's also a big driving force. These days, we still keep in touch and have a group chat room. We still feel like we're a team, so wherever we go, the members call me 'leader.' It gives me a lot of strength.”
