Chapter 2. Why So Serious? - The Misconceptions of Me is the second part of the third full-length album by SHINee. It was released on April 26, 2013 with "Why So Serious?" serving as the album's title track. The first part of the album, Dream Girl - The Misconceptions of You, was released on February 19, 2013. A compilation of the two albums called The Misconceptions of Us was released on August 8, 2013. Lee Sung Soo, director of SM Entertainment's production department, explained this album is about "the misconception of me (SHINee)," "the dreams I slowly wanted for myself" and "the misconception of ideals." It evokes "the gap between SHINee's reality and dreams and has an overall deep and dark sound, completely opposite of the preceding album." The lead single "Why So Serious?" is about a zombie that has lived in darkness for a very long time and falls in love with a human girl. Being injured from a car accident at the time, member Jonghyun did not participate to the music video.
