In 2021, Fans rejoiced when Korean media outlets reported that the hit Korean drama "Princess Hours" would get a remake. "Princess Hours," also known as "Goong," is a 2006 romantic comedy in an alternate, 21st-century Korea where the monarchy still exists. It tells the story of Shin Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye), an ordinary female student who suddenly finds out that she's betrothed to the crown prince of their nation, Lee Shin (Ju Jihoon). "Princess Hours" became an instant hit in Asia and is acknowledged as one of the contributors to the Korean "Hallyu" Wave.
As of January 2023, casting announcements have yet to be made, and so far, no other details have been released. However, that didn't stop Korean netizens from placing their bets on who they think will play the iconic character Shin Chae Kyung.
