The new record of BTS's Jungkook, a "global pop star," continues.
Based on Hanteo Chart, BTS Jungkook's solo album "Golden" sold a total of 2,51,158 copies until the 17th. For the first time in 13 years since Hanteo Chart reorganized its counting method in 2010, more than 2.5 million copies of a solo album have been sold.
"Golden" sold 1 million copies in about 3 hours after its release, going straight to "Million Seller" and becoming a "Double Million Seller" with over 2 million copies in 5 hours. In particular, the album sold 2,147,389 copies on the day of its release alone, setting a new record for the most sales on the first day of a Korean solo album, and later became the No. 1 K-pop solo artist with 2,438,483 copies (a week after the release).
Jungkook's "Golden" hit the overseas music market beyond Korea. According to Billboard's tally, "Golden" became the first K-pop solo artist to sell more than 200,000 copies in the first week of its release in the United States, and thanks to this, it ranked second on Billboard's main album chart "Billboard 200" (November 18), tying the highest ranking for K-pop solo artist albums ever.
The album also entered the album chart at No. 3 on the UK Official Chart, which was released on the 11th, making it the highest K-pop solo artist record ever.
Meanwhile, Jungkook will hold a fan showcase "Jungkook 'GOLDEN' Live On Stage" at Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul at 8 p.m. on the 20th.
