NCT’s Taeil Exits Group Amid Sexual Offense Allegations: “I Really Didn’t Expect It at All”

On August 30th, SM Entertainment issued a statement confirming the departure of NCT’s Taeil from the group. The label acknowledged that Taeil is currently involved in a criminal investigation related to unspecified sex crimes, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The statement left many netizens shocked about the nature of the accusations against Taeil, as details of the alleged crimes remain unclear.

“This is SM Entertainment.

We have recently confirmed that Taeil has been implicated in a criminal case related to sexual crimes. While looking into the situation, we recognized that the issue is very serious, and we have decided that Taeil could no longer continue team activities. We have discussed this matter with Taeil and it has been decided he will be removed from the group.

Currently, Taeil is faithfully cooperating with the police investigation. We will share additional statements as the investigation progresses. We deeply apologize for the controversy caused by our artist.”

SM Entertainment also noted that Taeil is cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation and extended an apology to the group’s fans.

Taeil, who debuted in 2016 as the main vocalist of both NCT U and NCT 127, has been a prominent figure in the group. His sudden exit has shocked fans and raised concerns about the future of NCT’s lineup.
