On January 24th, KBS announced that they have ruled (G)I-DLE's "Wife" unsuitable for public broadcast, pointing out the song's provocative lyrics following their music review.
Aside from "Wife," the song "Rollie" was also disqualified due to the mention of a product brand.
"Wife" and "Rollie" are songs from (G)I-DLE's long-awaited 2nd full-length album "2." In particular, "Wife" served as a pre-release single to signal the group's return. However, as soon as "Wife" was released back in January 21st, it instantly became a hot topic with netizens criticizing the girl group's lyrics, accusing it of having too much sexual innuendos such as "Kiss carefully and eat it boldly" and "Since I feel good, I'll swallow you deeply."
On the other hand, there are also netizens who praised (G)I-DLE, pointing out the song and music video's satirical message that tackles the mysogynistic mentality and expectations against wives in South Korea.
