We understand that defining Kpop can be a bit challenging due to its ever-evolving and inclusive nature so we want to make it easier for you to understand who is accepted on our platform.

To be included in our database as an idol or group, they must either have released original, primarily Korean music or be participants in a Korean survival show. This means that project groups, hip-hop crews, and similar entities will not be permitted unless they produce original content beyond simple covers.

Pre-debut groups can be exempted if they are affiliated with an established K-pop company that has clear promotional strategies, or if they include a member who is a popular participant (reached the finale) in a survival show. Additionally, pre-debut groups should have a name and be in the teaser posting process with a confirmed debut date in less than a month.

Other acts will be evaluated using kpopping's scoring guide:

    • 5 points if more than half of the group's members are Korean.
    • 1 point per Korean member. (maximum of 5 points)

Before adding images to the database, we recommend that everyone familiarize themselves with our guidelines for each type of image. Artist profile and thumbnail images are preferred to be 1:1 orientation (square) or if not possible a portrait. The minimum width is 900px. Group profile photos should be landscaped at 16:9, with a minimum width of 900px. If a group or artist's profile isn't available, their logo can be used as a temporary placeholder.

Artist page thumbnails should be cropped to shoulder or chest length and above with no empty space above or below the person. Text should be removed or ideally, find a photo that has zero text, usually, company websites provide these. The artist's face should be clearly visible and unobstructed (except for hair).

Avoid extra small images / low quality

Adding images can be intimidating at first but the most important details are: selecting good quality images & editing images without destroying them. Find images that are at least as big as the minimum resolution required. (remember you'll be removing unnecessary empty space and text)

Melon & Bugs as well as company websites usually profile the latest teaser images without any watermarks

Understanding your editing software

You can use whichever image software (e.g. Photoshop, GIMP, Paint.NET) or online tool you prefer. The most important thing is to learn how to use it.

Crop images so there isn't any empty white space above or below the image. Text should not be visible and the person in the photo should be centered on the frame.

Keep it simple

Upload only images where the idols are clearly visible, such as studio-taken images from the company or teasers with minimal to no effects. Avoid black and white photos or adding your own color tones or special edits.
At kpopping.com, we value our diverse audience and strive to create a positive experience for everyone. To ensure this, we have established guidelines regarding the types of content that are not allowed on our platform. Please take note of the following:

  • Impersonation

Gore or mutilation, which involves vivid and realistic depictions of violent acts and brutality, should not be posted for the purpose of shock value. This includes the showcasing of mutilation or torture of humans, animals, or their remains.

Posting personal details without the consent of the original party, such as phone numbers, home addresses, employment information, email addresses, full names with photos, and personal social media accounts of non-public figures, is strictly prohibited.
