Former TREASURE Member Bang Yedam Makes Solo Debut with "Only One" M/V

Bang Yedam, a former member of TREASURE, expressed confidence in his first solo album.

Bang Yedam recently conducted an interview at the Star News headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of his first mini album, "Only One," which was released on the 23rd.

Bang Yedam said, "I'm so excited because I've been preparing for a long time," and added, "I really enjoyed the preparation process. Of course, it's a burden, but even that burden is enjoyable," he said.

This album is all the more meaningful because it is the result of Bang Ye-dam's first step as a solo artist.

Earlier, Bang Ye-dam appeared on SBS's "K-Pop Star Season 2" in 2013 and won second place with a rave review of "Korea's Justin Bieber" and "Little Michael Jackson" for his charming voice and outstanding performance. After seven years of training at YG Entertainment, he debuted with TREASURE and received a lot of love.

Bang Ye-dam suspended his TREASURE activities in May last year to strengthen his production capabilities, and in November of that year, he withdrew from TREASURE and ended his exclusive contract with YG Entertainment. His solo album "Only One" is released by GF Entertainment in August this year.

Bang Ye-dam, whose MBTI is an introverted INFP, said, "It was embarrassing to play the songs I made because I am INFP. So I wasn't active when I communicated with the company about the album, but at some point, I actively played it for you. However, I had a lot of worries because it was difficult to choose the concept or mood of the album," he confessed.

Bang Ye-dam's title song of his first mini album, "Do Just One," is a neo-soul genre where you can feel the musical perfection by mixing his outstanding singing skills and black music. Prior to this, the pre-released song "Miss You" was on the rise, landing at the top of the iTunes album chart in more than 12 countries, including No. 1.

Bang Ye-dam contained a love story in the title song and the pre-released song "Miss You." When asked why he chose the theme as love or separation, he replied, "It's not an experience" and "I try to feel that situation well, even if it's not something I usually go through."

"I think it's a job that needs to arouse empathy, and it's a necessary part to create. I wanted to solve it in various ways, in depth, and realistically under the theme of love," he explained.

As for singing universal love even though I was able to tell a bigger story as it was my solo debut, he said, "Even though I'm in a serious situation, I didn't write those songs often, and I wanted to approach the public with a more friendly song."

Bang Ye-dam, who boasted outstanding musicality since childhood, was an all-rounder even after his debut. While working as a team, he established himself as a singer-songwriter by making various songs such as group WINNER's "I Love You" and Kang Seung-yoon's "BORN TO LOVE YOU."

When asked about musical satisfaction, Bang Ye-dam confidently answered "100%," saying, "It's my album, so I have to be satisfied first." He poured out everything he was good at. "I sang hard, the sound was fresh, the melody was well written, and the lyrics were witty," he said.

What kind of music does Bang Ye-dam, who is now a solo artist rather than an idol group member, want to play in the future. He said, "There are so many things I want to do. I want to show you various sides without resistance. It's my first start, so I'm worried about what I should show you, but I'll show you all of them step by step. In fact, I think I will be buried in everything, so I think it would be good to balance what I want with what the public wants," he said.
