G-Dragon Leaves YG Entertainment, Joins Warner Music

G-Dragon Leaves YG Entertainment, Joins Warner Music

G-Dragon has found a new home.

On the 30th of September, G-Dragon posted several photos containing his current situation on his SNS without any caption.

Of the seven photos, one stands out. This is a cropped photo of an electronic display board with “WELCOMES G-DRAGON” written on it.

This pertains to the rumor about G-Dragon signing with Warner Music, announced by international media on the 28th of the previous month. According to local reports, G-Dragon recently visited the Warner Music Records headquarters in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Warner Music Records is a famous American record label considered one of the world's top three popular music groups.

A picture of an LED board with G-Dragon's photo and the words 'WELCOME G-DRAGON' was circulated online, believed to be at Warner Music Records headquarters. This led to speculation that G-Dragon may be a member of Warner Music Group, as he is listed on a search portal site and had liked a social media post announcing the news.

In May 2023, YG Entertainment released a report of their artists, but G-Dragon's name was nowhere to be found. This led to rumors that his exclusive contract with YG had expired and that he had left BIGBANG. Previously, his real name, Kwon Ji-Yong, was listed but later removed.

In this regard, YG told Star News, "The exclusive contract with G-Dragon has expired, and we are cooperating through a separate contract for other activities such as advertising. We will discuss additional contracts when we resume music activities, and YG will spare no support for this.”

As we are already in the second half of 2023, there still needs to be news regarding the release of G-Dragon's solo album.
