LOONA's Heejin Shares Her Goals For Her New Album

Heejin is making a solo return!

On October 2nd, Heejin, who is best known for being a member of LOONA, sat down for an interview with Edaily Korea where she revealed her thoughts about her upcoming solo album, as well as her future plans.

"I'm already excited. I've been doing a lot of image training while imagining myself on stage," Heejin expressed, acknowledging her return to activities after a long hiatus. In particular, this marks the singer's first music release since LOONA released their summer special mini album "Flip That" in June last year.

"I think the fans will feel the same way as I do. I'm trying to show a more perfect performance because I'm not part of the team but as a solo artist."

In 2016, Heejin was the first member of LOONA to be unveiled and drew attention with her self-titled single album, with "ViViD" serving as the title track.

"I was thinking about whether to call it a solo debut or a comeback, but the company CEO said he thought the comeback would be right. I've been really busy for my solo during the month of September, shooting my jacket and music video," Heejin revealed.

"I've always wanted to work as a solo artist. I really like to challenge myself. So, even if other people say it's reckless, or it's not a set path, I try to avoid giving up before I even try it. I'm the type of person who thinks that challenge itself is meaningful. You can't do it well, it's a shame not to try at all."

Heejin, who has a strong tendency to move forward while enjoying challenges, stressed that she is deeply involved in the production of her solo album and showed her color. When asked for a tip-off that would raise expectations for a solo album, she said, "I think it's an extension of 'ViViD'. I think fans will look forward to this story alone."

"I was too young in 2016 when I released 'ViViD'. I think I'll be able to show you the more mature feeling by bringing the brightness and variety of that time. Also, if I only did what was given at that time, I also have higher expectations for my activities as I am giving opinions on many areas such as album design, lyrics, and costumes. I like drawing, so I had a dream that I wanted to draw an album cover or logo by myself, and I produced a similar result this time, so I hope you look forward to that, too."

Heejin is expected to release a solo album around the end of October. With this information, she also shared her goals.

"My goal is to have my songs circulate a lot on YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels. I hope I can watch videos that use songs from my solo album as background music often. As a long-term goal, I think it'll be fun to be on the stage as a solo artist. I want to win first place on a music show that I haven't done during LOONA's promotions. I'm rather happy that I have many dreams that I haven't achieved yet. There are still many dreams that can be achieved in the future."

Heejin also expressed her desire to gradually expand her genre spectrum. "It's hard for me to try right now because I'm not a professional rapper, but if I get more mature someday, I want to try hip-hop genre songs. I also like to play the guitar, so I want to practice more properly and melt it into music."
