TWICE's Nayeon Will Teach You About Love in "ABCD" M/V

TWICE's Nayeon Will Teach You About Love in "ABCD" M/V

TWICE's Nayeon has transformed into a wild and powerful figure.

TWICE's Nayeon released the music video of the second mini-album "NA" and the title track "ABCD" on various music sites at 1 p.m. on June 14.

Nayeon, who released "IM NAYEON" as TWICE's first soloist in June 2022, proved her presence as a solo artist, ranking seventh on the U.S. Billboard 200 with the title song "POP!".

If the previous work featured Nayeon's charm that was familiar to the public, this time, she showed her growth as a solo singer through "Cool and Strong Nayeon." In addition to the title track "ABCD," there are a total of seven songs including "Butterfly," "Heaven (Feat. Sam Kim)," "Magic," "HalliGalli (Prod. by Lee Chan-hyuk of AKMU)," "Something," and "Count It."

What is your favorite look?

The title song "ABCD" reminds of pop divas in the early 2000s, but did not lose its trendyness by adding hip-hop and modern elements. Rick Bridges and JYP Entertainment's CEO Park Jin-young wrote the lyrics, and Big Hit Music's exclusive producer Pdogg participated in the songwriting and arrangement.

The music video, which was produced in a multiverse format, captures Nayeon's charm regardless of age, or place. The girlish yet dynamic performance and dance break are differentiated from Twice's activities. In particular, Nayeon, who reenacted the atmosphere of the 2000s, worked out almost every day despite her busy schedule following Park Jin-young's advice to "look healthy," and got ideas such as styling and performance through live videos and music videos of pop artists at the time.

In a press conference ahead of the album's release, Nayeon said she focused her efforts on performance. "It was a choreography that I didn't perform much while promoting TWICE, and I thought it was a genre that I could bring to life," she said. "The song is cool and the choreography is cool, so I thought I just need to do well. There were times when I was frustrated that I couldn't do it. I feel that I have grown through those processes."

Looking forward to her next album, Nayeon set her sights on becoming an artist that we look forward to no matter when it comes out. "I was burdened because my last album was loved a lot, but I tried to enjoy it as much as possible," Nayeon said. "Recently, I felt good when I heard that it goes well with summer. I like the energy that summer gives me."

Expectations are high on whether Nayeon, who has grown up with the pressure, will be able to solidify her position as a solo artist with "NA" by driving the momentum of her previous work.
