Singer-Rapper Jessi Accused Of Neglecting Assaulted Fan: "I Feel Moral Responsibility"

On the JTBC News program 'Case Chief' that aired on October 11, a male fan reported that he was assaulted after requesting a photo with Jessi.

According to the 18-year-old fan, the incident happened in the early hours of September 29. He introduced himself and asked to take a photo, to which Jessi declined. He apologized for being a bother and just when he was about to leave, someone who was near Jessi suddenly hit him on the face. After that, they all quickly left the scene.

In response to the report, Jessi's agency later issued a clarification about the perpetrator. It was a Chinese man who was unrelated to Jessi. "The male perpetrator is unknown to Jessi. He is not Jessi's acquaintance but rather a friend of the producer in the group on that night."

Jessi spoke up about the incident by posting on Instagram. Recently, while at a private gathering, a fan approached me and requested a photo. I declined twice, as it was late at night. At that moment, someone nearby, whom I had just met that day, suddenly assaulted the fan. I was very flustered by the sudden situation and was unable to pay close attention to the fan.

She also added, Regardless of the circumstances, I deeply regret that my fan suffered an unexpected injury, and I feel a strong moral responsibility. We earnestly request that you refrain from reporting on this incident based solely on one-sided speculations. Jessi mentioned that she is currently working with her agency to reach out to the victim for compensation and make efforts to punish the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, the police announced that they would summon the producer who was said to be related to the Chinese perpetrator. Jessi's agency also stated that they will cooperate closely with the police to punish the perpetrator since the assault is clear.
