Jessi Under Police Investigation Over Fan Assault Case, Another Victim From 11 Years Ago Comes Out

On October 16, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station summoned Jessi for questioning over the recent incident of her fan getting assaulted by someone from her group. The police investigated her connection to the perpetrator and clarified the details of the incident from Jessi herself.

Jessi, who appeared at the police station wearing a black cap, was asked by reporters if she had indeed just met the assailant for the first time that day. The K-pop singer could only express her remorse by saying, "I want to find the person who hit [my fan] quickly and hope that person gets punished. I will share everything I know. I am very sorry."

The case of Jessi's fan getting assaulted was first reported through JTBC's investigative program 'Crime Chief'. According to the report, an 18-year-old fan politely asked for a photo with Jessi but got attacked by someone from her group. Jessi has reportedly left the crime scene and did not bother to check up on her fan. However, Jessi claimed that she did not know the assailant personally. She also posted an apology letter on her personal Instagram account, explaining that she panicked during the incident thus, unable to respond properly to the assaulted fan.

While the recent incident is already controversial as it is, another assault incident involving Jessi has resurfaced.

The same JTBC investigative program introduced the Korean-American 'Victim A' who cited a similar experience and explained the incident that happened 11 years ago. According to 'A', she was assaulted by Jessi and her group in the women's bathroom of an Itaewon club back in 2013. Jessi was indicted in May of that year for the assault case but 'A' later withdrew her complaint. She has also revealed the incident's details and the reason for the complaint withdrawal.

At the time, I ran into them in the club's bathroom and gave them the 'go ahead' signal, but they started to fight for no reason and started to hit me. Jessi and her friends hit me and tried to slam my face into the toilet. After they took my bag, they told me to kneel and apologize so that they would give it back to me.

Jessi defended herself and claimed that only her friends and 'A' got into a fight and she was there to try and stop them. She also denied hitting 'A' directly. Jessi was eventually cleared of all charges after 'A' dropped the lawsuit and returned to the US.

Regarding the dropped lawsuit, 'Victim A' shared that At the time, I had planned to go to the US and the incident occurred when I was done preparing my plane tickets, but it took almost a year for the verdict to be decided. It was difficult to leave the country while I was dealing with a lawsuit so I had no choice but to drop it.

In light of the current fan assault controversy surrounding Jessi, 'A' added Jessi claims that the perpetrator wasn't in Korea at the time, but this is similar to what happened in the past. The perpetrator being Chinese is laughable.

'A' has expressed her sympathy to the assaulted fan, saying that she feels like things are happening the same way all over again, and even the statements released by Jessi are similar to what happened years ago.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the police questioning lasted for over six hours. Despite Jessi's apology for the incident, netizens are still responding negatively about it, mostly due to her poor handling of the case.
