"Dokyeom, I'm Sorry for Misunderstanding" — Korean Netizens Share Apologies and Sympathy to SEVENTEEN's DK After Fansign Backlash

"Dokyeom, I'm Sorry for Misunderstanding" — Korean Netizens Share Apologies and Sympathy to SEVENTEEN's DK After Fansign Backlash

The previous day, SEVENTEEN's DK became a subject of criticism in South Korea after an overseas fan accused the idol of using his phone during a fansign event. Posts about the idol were made across multiple online communities, which garnered tons of negative comments and insults about him. Later, a Korean fan came to the idol's defense and shared an uncropped version of the video, saying, "Dokyeom wasn't texting. In this video, his hands are up, but the reflection makes it look like he's using his phone. Watch this video too." Meanwhile, another Korean fan said, "If you watch all the other video clips from that day, when Dokyeom (SEVENTEEN's DK) raises his hand on the table, puts on and takes off his hoodie, and raises his glasses, the phone reflection never left his eyeglasses. The phone was used for the event. Unless Dokyeom has four hands, this is a misunderstanding. Here's what the online fansign event looked like too."

The evidences shared by fans to clear DK's name instantlty went viral in South Korea. At the same time, most of the negative posts about the SEVENTEEN member quickly disappeared, presumably taken down by those who posted them.

Korean netizens commented:
  • I'm sorry for my comments ㅠㅠ I'm so glad the misunderstanding was resolved...
  • I'm not a fan of Seventeen, but I hope everyone who posted negative comments are sued.
  • I only read the posts. I never left a negative comment.
  • Dokyeom, I misunderstood you too. I'm sorry. I'm worried if the misunderstanding was resolved.
  • You f*cking stabbed someone and now you're saying sorry?
  • I got really upset and I wanted to curse him out. I'm glad the correction was posted.
  • Dokyeom, I'm sorry for misunderstanding.
  • It must've felt so unfair for Dokyeom.
  • I don't think the people who posted bad comments are even sorry.
  • Heck, that’s right ㅜㅜ I’m sorry for misunderstanding, Mr. DK ㅜㅜ
  • I had no idea. I only wrote that I felt sorry for the fans.. I'm sorry.
  • There were 2000 comments in the negative article and only 5 of them felt sorry for DK.
  • This is why ignorance justice is dangerous.
  • Seventeen, let's do f*cking well~~~
  • I made a bad comment. I apologize and I'll reflect.
  • Please sue the malicious comments ㅠㅠ
  • Everyone who left a bad comment should quit the internet.
  • The video was too short and didn't look clear, so I wondered why there was a fuss.
  • Everyone who commented yesterday should see this.
  • Aigoo... Seventeen fans must be so upset.
