A former member of a 6-member male idol group was given a suspended prison sentence in the first trial for sexually assaulting and molesting a fellow member.
Earlier this year, the entertainment industry was shocked when it was discovered that a former male idol was handed over to trial for molesting a fellow member during their trainee days and after their debut. 'Mr. A' was accused of touching the body of another member, victim B, at least three times from 2017 to 2021 in the dorm and practice room. Mr. A's side acknowledged most of the charges and expressed remorse, but claimed that he was too drunk to remember about some of the charges.
On May 30th, Korean media outlets revealed that for the first trial, the 29th Division of Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court gave Mr. A (25 in Korean age) a suspended sentence of 2 years and 6 months in prison and 3 years probation. He was also ordered to complete an 80-hour sexual assault treatment program.
