NewJeans truly never die!
The New York Times finally released their heavily anticipated list of the best songs of 2024. Sixty-eight songs made it to the cut this year.
Supernatural by NewJeans was the only K-pop entry on the list, taking fans by surprise.
Why anyone would want to get in the way of the most stylistically impressive K-pop group of the past few years making tremendous, nostalgically precise and modernly sophisticated songs like this one is beyond me.
— Jon Caramanica, a renowned music compositer and pop music critic for The New York Times
'Supernatural' was released in June, being their Japanese debut single. This is not NewJeans first recognition in the renowned newspaper; one of their debut tracks, "Cookie", was previously included in the published list for 2022.
The girlgroup had a rough end of the year with all the problems they encountered with their company ADOR, but it is safe to say that all their hard work has been paying off as what can be seen in the award show wins — winning both bonsang and daesangs.
NewJeans had been following their established schedule in the midst of the commotion, while everything clears up. They are set to perform at the SBS Gayo Daejeon 2024 on December 25.
