NewJeans is a five-member girl group under ADOR, a subsidiary label of HYBE.
The group is notable for being formed and developed by Min Hee Jin, who was known to be the former creative director of SM Entertainment and worked closely on the concepts of Red Velvet, f(x), EXO, Girls Generation, and SHINee. Details about NewJeans were kept secret until they made their trailblazing debut on July 22, 2022, by releasing the single "Attention."
On August 1, 2022, NewJeans released their self-titled mini album and went on to earn the nickname 'monster rookies' after topping multiple domestic and international charts.
On July 23, 2024, ADOR revealed that NewJeans would be going on hiatus amidst plagiarism controversy surrounding their song ‘Bubble Gum.’ The agency emphasized the group’s hard work despite setbacks and assured fans that NewJeans would use this break to prepare for exciting projects and return with a fresh look.
On November 28, 2024 NewJeans said in a late-night press confernce that they will be departing from their agnecy, ADOR.
On November 29, NewJeans' media representative released the response from ADOR to the certification of contents sent by the group. NewJeans later released an official statement that announcing that all five members have terminated their contracts with ADOR.
