Korean Netizens Cheer After Jang Wonyoung Wins 100 Million Won Lawsuit Against Youtuber Sojang

On January 17th, Korean media outlets reported that Starship Entertainment and IVE's Jang Wonyoung won the civil lawsuit against YouTuber Sojang for 100 million won in damages.

It is said that as of the 21st of last month, the 210th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of some of the plaintiffs in the 100 million won damages lawsuit filed by Jang Wonyoung and Starship Entertainment against "Park," the person behind the Youtube account.

"The court ordered that 100 million won be paid, calculated at an annual interest rate of 12% until the day it is fully repaid. Park must not only pay the interest, but also the court costs incurred during the lawsuit," according to Lawtimes Korea.

In October of last year, Jang Wonyoung and Starship Entertainment filed criminal and civil lawsuits against the Youtuber for spreading numerous malicious rumors. Moreover, in Jang Wonyoung's claim, she also pointed out that many other celebrities suffered psychological pain due to the rumors and slanderous content that Sojang created.
