Fans Show Unwavering Support to EXO-CBX in All-Out War Against SM Entertainment's Unfair Treatment

Fans Show Unwavering Support to EXO-CBX in All-Out War Against SM Entertainment's Unfair Treatment

On June 10th, INB100 surprised the industry when they held an emergency press conference, detailing SM Entertainment's alleged continuous unfair treatment of EXO members Baekhyun, Chen, and Xiumin, collectively known as EXO-CBX. This press conference comes a year after the group's first legal battle with the agency, which was seemingly resolved after both parties negotiated and settled matters to protect the boy group EXO.

EXO-CBX were successfully able to terminate their individual contracts with SM Entertainment and started anew under the agency INB100, but continued to work with SM Entertainment for EXO's group activities.

During the recent press conference, Cha Ga-won, the current president of INB100 said, “We declare a full-on war against SM Entertainment, which has made a promise that it could not keep and committed what could be perceived as fraud."

"In June of last year, EXO's CBX successfully completed legal action, including terminating the exclusive contract and filing a complaint with the Fair Trade Commission, through a joint statement with SM Entertainment. At the time, both parties resolved the situation through negotiations, believing that EXO's regular activities were more important than anything else, and in accordance to the agreement at the time, the artists' individual names and activities as EXO's CBX were established by INB100," explained one of the representatives.

Attorney Lee Jae-hak then revealed, “SM Entertainment is ignoring the contents of the negotiation that became the premise of the agreement and is demanding INB100, CBX’s agency, to give up ‘10% of the sales of the artist’s individual activities.’ INB100 sent proof of the unfairness.” Adding, “SM Entertainment has not responded for over two months.”

Furthermore, during the press conference, it was also revealed that all three artists weren't paid for their participation in EXO's recent activities nor recieved payment for their previous renewal with the agency. They only continued with their activities to protect the group and their fans. In addition, it is also alleged that SM Entertainment continued their failure to disclose settlement data.

The statements made by INB100's legal representatives instantly became a hot topic all over South Korean online communities, with fans expressing disdain over SM Entertainment's alleged repeated unfair treatment. Fans also showed unwavering support to the members, saying:

  • Fighting, ChenBaekXi!
  • SM, what are you doing the the kids again?
  • They really are a bunch of thugs.
  • 10%???
  • It's just hidden by HYBE, but SM is the worst company.
  • Why are they asking for sales from personal activities?
  • 10% is understandable if group activities, but it's personal activities.
  • Wow, this again?
  • The antis are excited again.
  • 10% of sales? They really are gangsters.
  • I don't know much about this. I'll have to wait and see if more situations come out.
