On August 30th, RIIZE's Seunghan publicly apologized regarding the leak of past photos, showing him kissing a woman. The young idol wrote, "First of all, I sincerely apologize to the fans who are supporting RIIZE. I damaged the team with a personal matter in a very important and crucial moment ahead of my debut, disappointing the members and the company staff."
"I am also sorry for not being able to apologize quickly because I was scared and anxious. All of this happened out of my carelessness, and I reflected a lot on my past time and behavior," he added.
Following Seunghan's apology, he added, "I will put RIIZE first in the future. I will act more carefully not only on the RIIZE stage but also in all the situations I go through. I will do my best so that you can feel my sincerity towards the team and fans through my actions."
Seunghan's apology came out after SM Entertainment released a statement, announcing that they will be taking legal actions against those who posted and distrubuted private photos of RIIZE members.
RIIZE is SM Entertainment's upcoming 7-member boy group. They will begin their official debut activities on September 4th, following the release of their first digital single, "Get a Guitar."
Meanwhile, Seunghan's apology instantly became a hot topic, leaving netizens with divided opinions:
- This is too bad. I think he's having a really hard time.
- Oh my... that's too much.
- That means he'll still be promoting with the group.
- Is this really something to apologize for?
- When he doesn't apologize, people act like he committed a crime. When he apologized, people ask him why he's apologizing.
- The photo is from at least a year ago, but isn't that the time when their debut schedule was set? If you are really desperate for your dream of becoming an idol, would you go to a motel with your girlfriend and take pictures like that with your own hands? I really don't understand... I don't pity him, I pity the other members...
- He's not leaving?
- He should apologize. It's true that he hurt the team's image.
- I feel bad for the other innocent members. He should just embrace it and leave.
- I like you. Fighting!
- Why did he apologize for this? SM is such a strange company.
- It's a TMI photo, but it's not a crime, so I don't think it's necessary to leave. It's not like he took it and posted it somewhere. It was leaked.
- Why is the victim apologizing?
- Seunghan, do well in the future and take care of your mental health.
