KARA's Youngji Makes Solo Debut With "L.O.V.E" M/V

KARA's Youngji Makes Solo Debut With "L.O.V.E" M/V

"I'm greeting you as a new female solo artist of the 5th generation"

Hur Youngji, a member of the group KARA, will take her first steps as a solo singer nine years after her debut.

On September 12th, a media showcase for singer Hur Youngji's solo debut album "Toi Toi Toi" was held at Shinhan Card Play Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Youngji, who worked as a member of KARA after winning Mnet's "Kara Project" in 2014, explained about her rather late solo debut, saying, "I've been waiting since KARA's activities were suspended in 2016, but I wasn't ready yet for my solo activities."

She added, "While I was working in Japan, I ran to the CEO and shouted, 'I think it's time!' to prepare the album, thinking, 'I can show off my energy like this, but I'm not performing on stage?'"

The album's name, "Toi Toi Toi," was named by her older sister Hur Sungyeon, who heard the title song in German, meaning 'good luck.' Youngji said, "It means that I hope everyone's life, not just me, will be full of luck."

Seo Ji-eum, one of the representative lyricists in Kpop, participated in creating the title song, "L.O.V.E." Youngji introduced, "It is a song with my own bright energy, and the love spoken in this song tried to cover all the love, not just between men and women."

Aside from the title song, the album also contains the b-side tracks "FOCUS" and "CLIMAX." In particular, "Climax," which was pre-released at a fan meeting in June, was a reply to "Memory Clock" released in 2017 and Youngji participated in writing the lyrics.

Youngji cited "happiness" as her own differentiation strategy in the growing reality. "Many people commented that they became happy watching my activities," she said. "I want to fill you with happiness for three minutes when the song is played."

She also expressed regret over "Comedy Big League," which ends in September. Youngji said, "I learned a lot from 'Comedy Big League' about the sense of entertainment and talk that I lacked. It can be said that I have laid the foundation for my sense of entertainment now," she expressed her gratitude.

Meanwhile, Youngji's single "Toi Toi Toi" was released on various music sites at 6 PM on the same day.
