Suga Apologizes For Driving Electric Kickboard While Intoxicated

On August 7th, BTS' Suga shared a message through Weverse, apologizing to fans and revealing that he was caught drunk driving an electric kickboard. The rapper wrote, "I feel very heavy-hearted and sorry to come to you with disappointing news. I drank alcohol at a dinner last night and rode an electric kickboard home. I violated the road traffic laws because I thought it was a short distance and did not realize that I could not use an electric kickboard while intoxicated."

Suga recounted, "I fell over while trying to set up the electric kickboard by myself. There was a police officer nearby, and I took a breathalyzer test and had my license revoked and was fined," adding "No one was harmed nor any facilities were damaged during this process, but this is my responsibility and I have no excuses, so I bow my head and apologize to everyone. I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my careless and wrong actions, and I will be more careful with my actions in the future to prevent something like this from happening again."

His agency, BIGHIT Music, also released an official statement regarding the incident. "While returning home drunk, Suga used an electric kickboard while wearing a helmet. After moving about 500 meters, he fell while parking, and as a result of a breathalyzer test conducted by a nearby police officer, he was fined and had his license revoked. There was no casualty or property damage in the incident, and he returned home after being handed over to the police. We apologize for disappointing many people due to the artist's inappropriate behavior. As a social service worker, he will receive appropriate disciplinary action from his employer for his behavior."

Suga is currently serving his mandatory service as a social worker. He is scheduled to be discharged in June of next year.
