Several K-pop artists, including Blackpink’s Rosé and Jennie and NCT’s Johnny, have attended the Met Gala in the past, but no complete K-pop group has walked the red carpet of one of the most prestigious events in the fashion and entertainment industry before Stray Kids.
Stray Kids makes history as the first complete K-pop group to fly from Seoul to the US to attend the 2024 Met Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
In a Vogue red carpet interview with Tommy Hilfiger, Stray Kids’ leader Bangchan thanked Tommy Hilfiger: "It is our first Met Gala, and if it weren't for Tommy, we wouldn't be here."
Bangchan also shared the group’s experience being dressed by Tommy Hilfiger, “We had a lot of fitting sessions, but it all went really smoothly. I personally really, really like everybody's fit.”
Vogue asked Tommy Hilfiger about his Spring 2024 Campaign, which revisited his iconic style of modern prep, and what inspired him when he was working on Stray Kids. The designer replied, “They are as modern as you can get. They're modern prep, and they're global superstars. They're a K-pop group from Korea, and they're embarking on a 40-city tour, and they pack stadiums with 80,000 people, and they have a wild fanbase all over the world.”
