Hwang Hyunjin is a South Korean rapper, dancer, singer-songwriter, and composer under JYP Entertainment. He is best known as a member of the boy group Stray Kids and part of its unofficial subunit Danceracha.
Hyunjin was casted by JYP Entertainment while shopping with his mother during his middle school years. Although he had no prior experience, he became a trainee with the company and trained for two years. His passion for dance developed as he observed senior trainees, prompting him to study various dance styles at the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA).
On October 12, 2017, JYP Entertainment officially introduced Hyunjin by releasing his photo and name, announcing his involvement in the survival show Stray Kids, where he would take on roles in rap and dance. By the final episode on December 19, 2017, it was confirmed that Hyunjin would debut as a member of the boy group Stray Kids.
Hyunjin took a hiatus from late February to late June 2021 following accusations of bullying during his school years.
Hyunjin debuted as a member of Stray Kids on March 25, 2018, with I Am Not and its title track "District 9".
