After NewJeans' LIVE last September 11th, during which member Hanni spoke out about alleged workplace bullying by ILLIT's manager, who reportedly instructed ILLIT members to ignore her, she attended a parliamentary hearing today, October 15, at the National Assembly building in Seoul to discuss the matter.
This follows a lengthy legal battle between former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and HYBE, which led to Min Hee Jin's removal from her position.
Since NewJeans debuted under Min Hee Jin's guidance, the group requested her reinstatement, but their plea was denied. HYBE faced backlash for issuing individual responses to each member rather than addressing the group's collective request.
Hanni's presence at the hearing is making waves in the industry, as it's rare for idols to speak out publicly against their own company, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
- Newjeans, I'm proud of you especially Hanni. Your impact on your hoobaes (idols who debuted later than Hanni) especially for those people who are isolated from the workplace is heard. I've never seen such a brave group. I'm proud
- I just want to give her a big hug! They’re all so young, it’s so sad to have to go through this!
- This is the real meaning of "To change the idol industry". So proud of her
- Proud of you Hanni
- It must’ve been so scary, you did a great job Hanni!
- YOUR INTERNATIONAL FANS ARE PROUD OF YOU HANNI PHAM
- And in the future, I can be proud and say, "My idol once got her own label called out just to end workplace mistreatment. Back then, so many idols are treated badly."
- Do what’s right for you and the group! You deserve happiness for what you are doing! Don't give up Hanni and New Jeans!
- I will see Hanni always as a role model and inspiration for what she did. Facing your fears is the greatest strength you have. We need more people like her to voice our worries and needs…
