ILLIT (also stylized as :ll:+) is a five-member girl group under Belift Lab. The group name 'ILLIT' comes from the phrase “I Will Be It”. It expresses the group’s self-determined and ambitious attitude (I will) and their unique identity (It). The name also implies that the group can transform into anything depending on the verb that is inserted between the two words.
The group was originally composed of six members who competed in the JTBC reality show R U Next?. However, Youngseo decided to leave ILLIT on January 5, 2024, after mutually agreeing to end her contract with Belift Lab.
ILLIT debuted on March 25, 2024, with the mini album Super Real Me, and with Magnetic as the title track. ILLIT quickly achieved incredible success both domestically and Internationally breaking multiple records in the process. Magnetic managed to achieve 73 PAKs (Perfect All Kill) making ILLIT the second group in the history of K-Pop to achieve a PAK on the Korean charts with their debut single after Whistle by BLACKPINK which achieved 11 PAKs.
In Japan, Magnetic became the fastest girl group song to reach 100 Million streams on Oricon in just 11 weeks, breaking the previous record by 8 weeks, and the 2nd fastest international artist after BTS. On Spotify, Magnetic became the fastest debut single for a K-Pop act to reach 50M, 100M, and 200M streams.
