Soyeon (Korean: 소연; Japanese: ソヨン; also known by her full name Jeon Soyeon) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, producer and rapper under Cube Entertainment. She is the leader and main rapper of the girl group (G)I-DLE.
In January 2016, Soyeon became a contestant on the survival show Produce 101, where she represented Cube Entertainment. She ranked 20th place in the final episode, thus being unable to debut with I.O.I.
In July 2016, she became a contestant on the rap survival show Unpretty Rapstar Season 3. She finished the series as the second runner-up.
On January 11, 2018, Cube Entertainment announced Soyeon would be re-debuting as the leader of (G)I-DLE. On April 12, she was officially revealed as the sixth member of the group. (G)I-DLE officially debuted on May 2, 2018 with the release of their first mini album I Am.
She made her solo debut on November 5, 2017 with the single "Jelly".
On October 26, 2018, it was confirmed that Soyeon would perform at the League of Legends World Finals Opening Ceremony 2018, along with Miyeon, Madison Beer and Jaira Burns. The four singers provided vocals for the virtual K-pop girl group K/DA.
