Introduction

Soyeon (Korean: 소연; Japanese: ソヨン; also known by her full name Jeon Soyeon) is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, producer, singer and dancer under Cube Entertainment. She is the leader, main rapper, and center of the girl group (G)I-DLE.

In January 2016, Soyeon became a contestant on the survival show Produce 101, where she represented Cube Entertainment. She ranked 20th place in the final episode, thus being unable to debut with I.O.I.

In July 2016, she became a contestant on the rap survival show Unpretty RapstarSeason 3. She finished the series as the second runner-up and three of her tracks were included on the show's final compilation album.

On December 29, 2016, Soyeon signed an exclusive contract as an artist under Cube Entertainment.

She made her solo debut on November 5, 2017, with the single "Jelly".

On January 11, 2018, Cube Entertainment announced that Soyeon would be re-debuting as the leader and rapper of (G)I-DLE. On April 12, she was officially revealed as the sixth member of the group. (G)I-DLE officially debuted on May 2, 2018, with the release of their first mini album I Am.

On August 8, 2018, it was announced that Soyeon would participate in a girl group project called Station Young for SM Station's X 0 with Seulgi (Red Velvet), Chungha (Solo former I.O.I), and SinB (Viviz formerly GFriend). releasing their song, "Wow Thing", on September 28, 2018.

On October 26, 2018, it was confirmed that Soyeon would perform at the League of Legends World Finals Opening Ceremony 2018, along with Miyeon ((G)I-DLE), Madison Beer, and Jaira Burns. Soyeon would be the incarnation of the character Akali. The four singers provided vocals for the virtual K-pop girl group K/DA. Debuting with their song "Pop/Stars" on November 2, 2018.

On November 10, 2019, Soyeon made her second debut with Akali in True Damage, this time along with Becky G, Keke Palmer, Duckwrth, Thutmose, and Yasuo. A virtual hip-hop group, which made their debut with the song "Giants"

On November 9, 2023, it was confirmed that Soyeon would be part of a special collaboration single "Nobody" with Liz (IVE) and Winter (æspa) which was released on November 16.
