On March 2nd, third generation idol Sungjoo from the boy group UNIQ released an official statement, confirming the rumors that he is married and has a son.
The 30-year old singer-actor said, “I am sorry for surprising many people with sudden news and not being able to show myself honestly. I wanted to tell you the news quickly, but I was unable to tell you because I was cautious.”
He then confirmed, "It's late, but I'll be honest and say that I will walk beautifully through the days ahead with my precious family as a faithful father and husband."
Last month, during Sungjoo's birthday celebration livestream, he played a voice message from fellow UNIQ member Wenhan, who asked, "Is your son sleeping now? Come and give uncle a hug."
The clip from the livestream has since went viral and lead to rumors that he is married and has a son.

Sungjoo made his official debut in October 2024 as a member of the Korean-Chinese boy group UNIQ together with WOODZ, Wang Yibo, Wenhan, and Yi Xuan.
