According to the agency, there have been incidents of fans' unauthorized visits to places that are related to the members' private lives, such as company building, frequented shops, and even their dorms. These illegal acts are done by obsessive fans, commonly referred to as sasaeng in Korean. These sasaeng fans have been tormenting the members by visiting unpublished schedules and spreading malicious rumors about them. They have also been forcibly contacting the members, following them in vehicles, in the airport, or even inside the plane, and illegally obtaining personal information to contact not only the members but also their families and acquaintances.
The agency also mentioned a recent assault incident experienced by The Boyz' member Sunwoo. On November 9th, when Sunwoo was getting off the elevator and was trying to open the dorm's front door, a sasaeng who had been hiding on the emergency stairs approached him. He felt threatened and immediately informed the staff about this, and when they tried to catch the sasaeng who was trying to run away, Sunwoo was beaten several times that he had to visit the hospital after. Meanwhile, the sasaeng fan is currently under police investigation and was arrested on charges of trespassing and assault.
These are clearly illegal acts that cause mental and material damage to the artists and the staff. Our company has zero-tolerance policy toward illegal acts, including invasions of privacy, and we will take clear legal action accordingly.- IST Entertainment
