KARA is a South Korean girl group under RBW formed by DSP Media in 2007. The group originally debuted with four members: Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, and Sunghee. However, a year later, Sunghee left which led to the addition of Kang Jiyoung, and Goo Hara. Being one of the first Korean groups to focus on the Japanese market with popular catchy tunes and fun choreographies (such as the famous butt dance in Mister's MV) they went on to become one of the most popular girl groups of the second generation in Kpop.
In 2015, following the expiration of their 7-year contract with DSP Media, Nicole and Jiyoung left the group. Following this, KARA went through reorganization. This led to Heo Youngji's addition to the group.
After almost 10 years of promotion, KARA eventually disbanded on January 15, 2016.
On November 24th, 2019, Goo Hara committed suicide reigniting controversies endemic within the industry such as overworking idols and impossible beauty standards.
On September 19, 2022, it was announced that KARA would be releasing an album under RBW to commemorate the 15th anniversary of their debut with Nicole and Jiyoung ultimately rejoining the group.
