Winner (Korean: 위너; Japanese: ウィナー) is a four-member South Korean boy group under YG Entertainment. The group debuted in 2014 with five members, but Nam Taehyun, the youngest, departed in November 2016 due to personal reasons.
They became popular through a survival show "WIN: Who is Next" as Team A in which they had to fight their way to the top, versus Team B which is now called iKON.
The group carved a niche in the industry with their R&B and alternative pop songs that touch the listeners’ hearts with their emotional and deep lyrics.
In 2020, Jinu and Hoony enlisted in the military, putting the group on a temporary hiatus. Meanwhile, Mino and Yoon are focusing on their solo careers before their impending enlistment.
Winner extended their contracts with YG Entertainment for another five years in August 2021. Jinu was discharged on December 31, 2021, and Hoony on January 15, 2022. The group made a comeback together on July 5, 2022, with the mini album "HOLIDAY". On March 24, 2023, it was announced that Mino enlisted in the military.
