Kim Jennie is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, dancer, composer, and model under ODD ATELIER and Columbia Records. She is best known as the main rapper and one of the lead vocalists of the internationally acclaimed girl group BLACKPINK.
Born and raised in South Korea, Jennie moved to Australia with her mom when she was ten years old. Not long after, she made another move and lived in New Zealand by herself for almost five years. At the age of fifteen, Jennie was supposed to live in America for her studies. However, while she was in New Zealand, preparing her belongings for her impending move to America, she had a change of heart and decided to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer instead.
Jennie auditioned for YG Entertainment and passed, leading her to become an official trainee. During her six years of training, she became known among fans due to her participation in her labelmates' projects. She appeared as an actress in G-Dragon's music video for "That XX" and she featured on songs such as Lee Hi's "Scarecrow," Seungri's "GG Be," and the Korean version of G-Dragon's "Black."
On August 8, 2016, Jennie debuted as a member of BLACKPINK and went on to become one of the most sought-after artists of her generation. Two years later, on November 12th, 2018, Jennie made her highly-anticipated solo debut with the chart-topping digital single "Solo."
In 2023, Jennie made her official debut as an actress in the HBO series "THE IDOL", playing the role of 'Dyanne'.
On December 9, 2023, YG Entertainment announced that Jennie would be renewing her contract with the agency as an active member of BLACKPINK, but without an individual-exclusive contract, hence allowing her to pursue endeavors outside YG Entertainment's management.
Shortly after her renewal with her group BLACKPINK, on December 24, 2023, Jennie announced that she had established her own one-woman agency, ODD ATELIER, to manage her solo activities. During Jennie's appearance on the show 'The Seasons: Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet,' she opened up about establishing the label, saying, "I wanted to do solo activities more freely so I carefully established (my own agency.)"
On September 8, 2024 it was announced that she had signed with Columbia Records to manage her activities in the United States.
