Introduction

BLACKPINK (stylized as BLΛƆKPIИK) is an internationally acclaimed South Korean girl group formed under YG Entertainment. The group has four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. They debuted on August 8, 2016, with their digital single album "SQUARE ONE" and immediately rose to be one of the most well-known and loved artists of their generation.

BLACKPINK's debut was highly anticipated as they were YG Entertainment's second girl group after 2NE1. Most of the members were also well known among fans when they were still trainees—Jennie having featured in her labelmates' songs and music videos, Lisa being a well-known Thai trainee, and Jisoo appearing as an actress in several music videos and TV shows.

At the time of its release, their song "DDU-DU DDU-DU" was the most-viewed Korean music video in the first 24 hours on YouTube, and in January 2019, it became the most viewed music video by a K-pop group on the website. The former record was broken by their video for "How You Like That" in June 2020, which also became the most-viewed YouTube video in the first 24 hours.

Following the release of their 4th Korean Mini Album, BLACKPINK made their debut at Coachella in 2019 and returned as headliners in 2023.

On December 6, 2023, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK had renewed their group contract and would continue doing group activities together, but would not renew their solo contracts with YG Entertainment.

On Christmas of 2023, Jennie revealed that she had founded her independent agency, ODD ATELIER, to handle her solo endeavors. On February 8th, 2024, it was announced that Lisa had also founded her agency, called "LLOUD". On February 21st, 2024, it was announced that Jisoo had also established her agency called "BLISSOO". On June 17, 2024, it was announced that Rosé joined The Black Label, a former sub-label of YG Entertainment.

On July 22, 2024, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK will have a comeback next year, 2025, as well as a world tour.
