Introduction

Billlie (formerly known as Mystic Rookies) (also stylized as Billl!ə) is a seven-member South Korean girl group under MYSTIC Story, a subsidiary label of SM Entertainment. They originally debuted with six members on November 10, 2021, with their first mini album “the Billage of perception : chapter one".

On November 19, MYSTIC Story announced that Kim Suyeon, a former contestant of Girls Planet 999, would be added to Billlie as Sheon and would be participating in their first digital single "the collective soul and unconscious: snowy night".

The group's name is a simplified spelling of "Bi11lie". Billlie's lore is that on the eleventh day, when the bell chimed eleven times, purple rain fell from the sky, a girl named Billlie Love was taken, and the members lie about ever knowing about Billlie. The Korean word “Bi” (비) translates to “rain,” symbolizing the purple rain. The number “11” alludes to the eleventh day and the eleven chimes. Meanwhile, “Lie” conveys the idea of the girls deceiving the world about Billlie.

On September 27, 2021, Mystic Rookies started a YouTube dance cover series "1MILLION x Billlie" which was in partnership with 1MILLION Dance Studio. They would release dance covers before Billlie's official debut.

During a V-Live livestream that was held on November 30, the group revealed that their fandom name would be Belllie've.

On April 19, it was announced that Billlie would be halting all activities until April 24 in light of the passing of Moon Sua's older brother Moonbin.

On June 15, MYSTIC Story announced that Suhyeon would be going on hiatus because of health issues. On September 12, Moon Sua would also be on hiatus for the same reason.

On April 11, 2024, MYSTIC Story announced that members Moon Sua and Suhyeon, who previously went on hiatus, would be fully returning to group activities.

On September 26, 2024, it was announced that Billlie would be releasing a new mini album in October titled "appendix: Of All We Have Lost" with all 7 members.
