BABYMONSTER (also shortened as Baemon) is a seven-member South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment. The group was created through the survival reality program “Last Evaluation” and debuted with six members (with Ahyeon on a hiatus for health issues) on November 27, 2023, with the digital single “Batter Up.”
The single achieved a record-breaking 22.59 million views within 24 hours, making it the most-viewed K-pop debut song in a day. The group continued to set records, reaching 50 million views in four days, 100 million in 18 days, and 200 million in 53 days.
Initially, Ahyeon’s future with the group was uncertain, as announced by YG Entertainment on January 1, 2024. However, on January 25, 2024, it was confirmed that Ahyeon had returned to the company and would begin promoting with BABYMONSTER upon the release of their mini album scheduled for April 1, 2024.
On February 1, 2024, BABYMONSTER released the pre-release track “Stuck in the Middle,” which quickly surpassed 20 million views in a single day. It was later revealed that their mini album “BABYMONS7ER,” released on April 1, 2024, would mark their official debut as a full seven-member group.
On July 26, 2024, BABYMONSTER announced that they will release their first studio album in the second half of 2024, and also start their first world tour in 2025.
On August 16, 2024, BABYMONSTER released their first Japanese single, a Japanese version of "Batter Up." Later that year, on November 1, they unveiled their debut full-length album "DRIP," which features nine tracks, including seven new songs.
