KPOP WEEKLY RECAP | July 10 – 16 | Comebacks, Debuts, and Upcoming Tracks


WHAT A WEEK!

The July comeback rush is one for the books. Each week is packed with incredible music releases from different artists, covering a variety of genres.

The second week of the month, in particular, saw the explosive summer comebacks of legendary and sensational artists from different generations.

Ace idol Chungha and girl group Busters kicked off the week with summer-perfect jams. Chungha, in particular, turned into a summer fairy with the release of the ethereal music video of “Sparkling” which happens to be the title track of her new album “Bare&Rare Part.1”.



Meanwhile, Busters released "Tropical Romance"—A catchy digital single perfect for the season.



Tuesday saw the debut of APINK’s new sub-unit Chobom which consisted of Chorong and Bomi. They released their digital single album "Copycat" which served a delightful combination of visuals and vocals.



Jay Park also joined the summer bonanza with his digital single "Need to Know".



D1CE's Jinyoung also made his comeback with the mini album "Delicious".



And of course, the legendary leaders of the Hallyu Wave Super Junior returned with the music video for "Mango" which is the title track of their album "'The Road : Keep On Going Vol. 1"



By Wednesday, AB6IX started the day by release of the Japanese version of their song "Savior"



We also got back-to-back remakes, with LOONA's Heejin releasing her own rendition of H:SEAN's R&B hit song "Honestly" and former Wanna One vocalist Kim Jaehwan sharing his own version of Lee Seung Gi's chart-topping 2000s ballad "Delete".





On the same day, Peakboy released his digital single "How To Love" which features the vocals of Paul Kim. And in you case you missed the news, Peakboy is set to appear in the reality show "In the Soop: Friendcation" starting July 22, 2022 together with real life friends BTS V, Choi Wooshik, Park Hyungsik, Park Seojoon.



Moreover, SF9 also made their highly-anticipated comeback with their 11th mini album "THE WAVE OF9". The six active members made sure to provide a summer-perfect jam with the title track "SCREAM".



Thursday was quite the day for girl groups with HI-L's "Summer Ride" and BILLLIE's own rendition of Yoon Jong Shin's "Patbingsu".





Lastly, Friday came with the big guns.

When the clock struck midnight, at least in South Korea, TWICE dropped the music video for their Japanese song "Celebrate" ahead of the release of their fourth Japanese studio album. And just like the title song, fans really do have something to celebrate because all TWICE members renewed their contract with JYP Entertainment and later on announced that the sensational girl group will be releasing their eleventh mini album "Before 1&2" on August.



On the same day, two other music releases rocked the Kpop scene . . .

J-Hope released his first full solo album "Jack In The Box" together with the explosive music video for the song "Arson".



And ITZY left fans in awe with the release of their fifth mini album "Checkmate" and its heart-fluttering fun-filled music video for "Sneakers".



And those are just the highlights of the week!



For the third week of the month, expect more explosive music releases from your favorite artists!

On Monday, July 18, Former Sistar leader Hyolyn will return with the mini album "iCE". Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will release their much-antipated repackage album "Sector 17" and the music video for the title song "_WORLD".



Tuesday, July 19, will see the return of second generation group-leaders-turned-soloists Sunye and Zico.

Rookie girl group ILY:1 will also make their comeback with the digital single "Que Sera Sera."

SM Station will be releasing another song from NCT LAB, this time from NCT U's Kun, Taeil, and Yangyang called "Rain Day".

And last but not the least, STAYC will make their much-awaited return with the single album "WE NEED LOVE".



On Wednesday, July 20th, we will witness the return of boy groups Greatguys, Blitzers, and P1HARMONY.



JYP Entertainment's rookie boy band XDINARY HEROES will also finally make their return with their first mini album "Hello, World"!



By Thursday, July 21st, ASTRO will return with their collaboration single with Universe Music titled "U&Iverse".

And lastly, on July 22, Friday, TXT is set to release their collaboration song with American rapper and singer iann dior called "Valley of Lies".
